# Phase 1, Step 3: Manually Create First Batch of Cards This document details the process of manually creating the initial batch of "On This Day" collectible cards. This hands-on effort is crucial for refining the workflow, testing the template, and identifying potential issues before attempting automation. ## Key Objectives: * Produce a small set (e.g., 3-7 days) of complete, high-quality collectible cards. * Validate the chosen design tool and template in a real-world scenario. * Document the manual creation process, including time taken and any bottlenecks. * Gather actual content to use for initial sales tests and feedback. ## Prerequisites: * **Completed P1-S1:** Data points and sources are defined ("Data Specification Sheet"). * **Completed P1-S2:** Design tool selected and card template created. ## Actionable Steps: 1. **Daily Data Collection (for each card in the batch):** * Refer to the "Data Specification Sheet" (from P1-S1). * For the chosen day, manually visit the defined primary data sources. * Extract the required information (headlines, stats, etc.). * If a primary source fails, attempt to use the backup source. Note any source issues. * Curate the content: Select the most relevant headlines, ensure data accuracy as much as possible. 2. **Image Generation/Sourcing (If applicable):** * If your card design includes an image (e.g., AI-generated): * Manually craft prompts for your chosen AI art generator based on the day's key event or theme. * Generate a few options and select the best fit. * Download the image in the required format/resolution. * If using stock imagery or other pre-existing visuals, ensure you have the rights and source them appropriately. (This is generally not recommended due to copyright for daily news). 3. **Populate Card Template (for each card):** * Open your card template in the chosen design tool (from P1-S2). * Carefully input the collected data into the correct placeholders. * Place the generated/sourced image (if any) into its designated area.* Double-check for typos, formatting errors, and layout issues. Ensure text fits within defined areas. 4. **Review and Refine:** * Does the card look visually appealing? * Is all information accurate and clearly presented? * Are there any inconsistencies compared to previous cards in the batch? * Make any necessary adjustments to the content or layout within the template for that specific card. 5. **Export Final Card Image:** * Export the completed card to the desired image format (e.g., PNG, JPG) at the target resolution. * Use a consistent naming convention for the files (e.g., `YYYY-MM-DD-OnThisDayCard.png`). 6. **Document the Process & Time:** * For each card, or on average for the batch: * How long did data collection take? * How long did image generation/sourcing take? * How long did template population and export take? * Note any difficulties, challenges, or unexpected issues encountered (e.g., data source unavailable, template limitations, tool quirks).\n * This documentation is vital for estimating ongoing workload and identifying areas for automation. ## Deliverables for this Step: * A batch of 3-7 completed digital collectible card image files. * Detailed notes on the manual creation process, including time spent per card/step and any challenges. These cards and process notes will inform the next steps in deciding the product type and setting up sales channels.
